“The Old Guard” Limited edition bronze sculpture

This sculpture is Montana-based artist Kasey A. Nixon’s effort to capture the spirit of an old bull elk, maybe past his prime but holding his own against younger challengers. The artist has always been intrigued by those old bulls who find a way to reach old age in spite of so many hardships and dangers. These hardened survivors live most of their later years alone in unforgiving country where few ever see them. In Kasey’s many years of hunting, he has encountered only a few of these old timers, and more often than not finds himself seeking out their isolated hiding places on the off chance he’ll have another encounter with one of the old ghosts that haunt the mountains and forests of the West.
