“State of alert is a tribute to the primal aspect of life: to survive,” says Rigby artist and engraver, Geoffrey Lignon. “This drawing shows the animal responding to its deepest and strongest instinct, scanning the area for danger. Not something commanded by its conscious, its fight to survive is built into its DNA through millions of years of evolution. Survival is the only priority for this zebra and must be fulfilled at whatever the cost. By diving into its eye, we should feel our own past and how we arrived at where we are today.”

Measuring 1,189 x 280 mm, it is available to purchase as a framed original or limited edition Fotospeed HWS 225gsm print. The prints feature a 2 mm white border on each side, with a 7 mm white border at the bottom, where the drawing is relief stamped with Rigby’s iconic ‘double R’ logo and personally signed and numbered by the artist.

The original artwork comes framed in a luxurious navy wood and resin frame, complimented by enhancing gold lines on the inner and outer edges of the frame.
