London gunmaker John Rigby & Co. is excited to announce the addition of two exceptional artworks to its Rigby Art collection, created by in-house engraver and artist Geoffrey Lignon. The two new pieces, titled “Sic semper tyrannis” and “Sovereign of the mist,” feature a commanding lion and a majestic red stag, respectively.

“Sic semper tyrannis” (Latin for “Thus always to tyrants”), presents an imposing portrayal of a lion, exploring themes of power and fate in the wild. This artwork serves as a reminder that tyrants will always be overcome, reflecting the harsh realities of life in nature. Geoffrey employs a technique of using white gel pens and pencils on black board, to detail the lion’s majesty and exude inner strength.

“Sovereign of the mist,” depicts a regal red stag in its woodland realm, amidst the lingering morning mist. Using the same distinctive technique of white gel pens and pencils on black board, Geoffrey creates a striking contrast that brings the stag to life.  This evocative piece invites viewers to immerse themselves in the scene, feeling the tension and anticipation of the moment through Geoffrey’s masterful use of light and shadow.

Rigby artist and engraver, Geoffrey Lignon commented: “These pieces represent nature’s duality – the raw power of the lion and the serene strength of the stag. My aim is to transport viewers into the heart of the wild, fostering a deeper connection with these magnificent creatures and the true essence of survival in nature.”
