John Rigby & Co., in partnership with Gordy & Sons and Karimojong Overland Safaris (KOS) Uganda, is proud to present an extraordinary auction lot at the DSC Convention in Atlanta ending this Friday, 10 January. Combining history, adventure and conservation, this unique package offers an opportunity to own a bespoke piece of Rigby craftsmanship and support critical wildlife conservation efforts in Uganda.

Paying homage to iconic British adventurer ‘Karamojo’ Bell, Rigby has donated a limited edition ‘W.D.M Bell’ model Highland Stalker. Based on the original 1928 Rigby rifle design as taken from the historic ledgers at Rigby, the rifle has a Rigby spoon bolt handle and Mauser flag safety as ordered specifically to Bell’s specifications.

Similarly, the rifle features a Mauser 98 action, as well as an ivorine front fore sight and custom design rear half-moon sight, regulated at 100, 300 and 400 yards, as per the original rifle. On the magazine floor plate, the engraving of ‘W.D.M.B’ mirrors Bell’s original commission, ensuring the rifle is both a collector’s treasure and very much made to be used.

Proceeds from the auction will help to fund the reintroduction of Ugandan kob to their historic range in Karamoja. This initiative aims to restore a species absent from the region since the 1960s, allowing the winning bidder to contribute to a lasting legacy in conservation.

The winning bidder and a non-hunting companion will embark on a seven-day safari in Uganda, hunting sustainably managed plains game using the .275 Rigby Bell rifle. Beyond the hunt, guests will witness the impact of the kob reintroduction efforts, observing this species thrive once again in its natural habitat.
